Welcome to the Wairarapa Women's Centre

We are committed to transforming historical conditions of oppression and violence, through initiatives that centre the experiences of All women.

Our
Story

History

In 1988 The Wairarapa Women's Centre (Formerly The Wairarapa Women's Resource Centre) was established and incorporated with the purpose of providing ongoing support and education to women.

The Centre has since played a roll in the lives of many, and thanks to support from voulenteers, has ensured the Centre remain an integral part of the Wairarapa Community.

Future

The WWC strives to be a centre for women to relax, learn and participate. To facilitate this we focus on two core elements:

Regular workshops - For personal and skill development.

Resources and information for clients

Volunteers - A pathway for work experience and up-skilling.

OUR MISSION

Empowering Women in Wairarapa

WWC aims to meet the needs of groups who would otherwise find barriers to accessing traditional social services.

❖ We acknowledge that our work takes place under the historical context of violence and discrimination of women

❖ We are committed to transforming historical conditions of oppression and violence, through initiatives that centre the experiences of All women.

We are committed to creating a community where women can thrive and achieve their full potential. Our services are designed to provide holistic support, including practical activities designed to promote wellbeing, education, training, social activities, peer-to-peer driven initiatives,  and advocacy.

•We help to create safer spaces in our communities, both physical and virtual.

•Safer spaces nurture self-determination, intersectionality, activism, and leadership.

We see ourselves as part of a larger story,

alongside other movements that share our commitment to supporting women as the change agents of their communities.
